About the Role
Camden Facilities Management is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer with a strong commercial plumbing and mechanical maintenance background.
The role involves planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, fault-finding and minor installation works across schools, children’s centres, community buildings and corporate properties.
The role has a plumbing and mechanical focus, with basic electrical awareness required to identify faults and work safely.
A key part of the role will be mentoring and supporting a plumbing apprentice approximately three days per week, including demonstrating safe working practices, explaining tasks and checking completed work.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair faults with commercial plumbing, heating and mechanical systems.
- Maintain pumps, pressurization units, expansion vessels, calorifiers, booster sets and valves.
- Repair domestic hot and cold-water systems.
- Service TMVs and support water hygiene and Legionella control.
- Complete minor mechanical installation and remedial works.
- Identify the cause of faults and recommend appropriate repairs.
- Update jobs, materials, findings and completion details using CAFM/mobile systems.
- Maintain accurate records and provide clear job completion notes.
- Manage and prioritize an allocated PPM and reactive workload.
- Communicate professionally with building users, contractors and colleagues.
- Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures.
- Maintain the work vehicle, tools and equipment.
- Support the wider M&E team where competent.
- Mentor and support the assigned plumbing apprentice.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
- Strong commercial plumbing and mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience with heating systems, pumps, calorifiers, pressurization units and associated plant.
- Experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in occupied buildings.
- Full UK driving license.
- Ability and willingness to mentor an apprentice.
- Comfortable using mobile devices or CAFM systems for job recording.
