Work pattern: 1 day WFH, 2 days office, 2 days field
PAYE Pay Rate: £14.08 per hour

Main Purpose

To coordinate and support improvement projects across the Council’s parks, playgrounds, open spaces and allotments, ensuring projects are delivered safely, effectively, on time and within budget. The role will work closely with internal teams, contractors, community groups, residents and other stakeholders to improve the quality, value and sustainability of the Borough’s green spaces.

Typical Day

  • Coordinate improvement projects across parks, playgrounds, allotments and open spaces.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, timescales and quality.
  • Prepare and review risk assessments and risk/benefit analyses.
  • Provide technical guidance to grounds maintenance teams and promote best practice.
  • Liaise with Councillors, residents, contractors, community groups and internal departments.
  • Supervise contractors and volunteers delivering green space improvement schemes.
  • Support practical conservation, planting and habitat creation activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of park and greenspace management plans.
  • Support the organisation and management of events when required.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Council Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience coordinating projects within parks, green spaces, grounds maintenance or a related environment.
  • Experience working with contractors, volunteers and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Experience managing projects to agreed timescales, budgets and standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Council teams, Councillors, residents and community groups.
  • Ability to provide practical and technical guidance to colleagues and contractors.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional practical outdoor/conservation work.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
