Umbrella: £21.20 per hour
PART TIME – 22 HOURS
To support the delivery of high-quality play activities to children & young people aged 8 -15 years old (up to 25 with SEND) in the Adventure Playgrounds in the borough.
To support the management of the day-to-day operation of an open access play facility, delivering play opportunities, across all Play Types to children and young people.
Responsibilities
- To work directly with children and young people to support their personal development by providing appropriate programmes of activities, services and facilities
- To support events, activities and supervise children and young people using play facilities ensuring that said facilities operate effectively so that the provision contributes to the service and departmental objectives.
- To support the development and delivery of a programme of positive activities, enjoyable and interesting to the children and young people taking part in them.
- To take part in consultations with children and young people to ensure their voices are included in programmes and service activity.
- To ensure the maintenance of agreed records including user registers, contacts, doctors, accident books, financial transactions, risk assessments, output data and basic reports.
- To organise and/or carry out required maintenance related to the facility and to make requests for repairs and maintenance at the facility and once authorised, support and monitor the work being undertaken. This may include the basic maintenance of adventure play structures to appropriate health and safety standards in terms of construction, repair and development.
- To support fund raising and income generation initiatives.
- To support the promotion of the service and activities within the locality.
- To support the work of any volunteers or trainees.
- To ensure the service actively promotes council policies in relation to equal opportunities, confidentiality of information, data protection, business risk assessment and Health and Safety of staff and service users.
- To have due regard to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people and to follow and implement the child protection procedures adopted by Southwark Safeguarding Children’s Board and the service.
- To participate in training and personal development activities which are appropriate to the role, to meet statutory and departmental requirements.
- From time to time it may be necessary for the post holder to carry out additional tasks, compatible with the nature of the post, as requested the management team.
