About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and motivated PRS Letting Negotiator to join our Housing Needs team. This is a key role focused on securing affordable private rented accommodation to help prevent and relieve homelessness.
You will work directly with landlords, tenants, and partners to increase housing supply, negotiate tenancy agreements, and support vulnerable households to access and sustain private rented homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and secure private rented properties through landlord engagement, market research, and outreach
- Negotiate rents and incentives to ensure accommodation is affordable and suitable
- Carry out property inspections to assess condition, safety, and compliance
- Match prospective tenants to appropriate properties and arrange/accompany viewings
- Support tenants to set up tenancies, including advice on benefits and rent payments
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, agents, and external partners
- Provide advice on landlord responsibilities and tenancy processes
- Promote the Council’s Private Renting Scheme through events and stakeholder engagement
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and legislation
About You
We are seeking someone with strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills, who is passionate about helping people access housing.
You will have:
- Experience working in housing, lettings, or the private rented sector
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of homelessness prevention and housing legislation (desirable)
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet targets
- Experience working with vulnerable clients
- Good IT skills and attention to detail
