About the Role
Charnwood Borough Council is seeking 3 skilled Joiner / Multi-Skilled Operatives to join our Voids Team. You will play a key role in bringing empty council properties back into use by carrying out high-quality repairs and maintenance work, ensuring homes are safe, modern, and ready for new tenants.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out joinery work including doors, kitchens, frames, and general wood repairs
- Undertake basic plumbing, tiling, and general maintenance tasks
- Complete repairs to a high standard within required timescales
- Work across multiple trades where needed to support service demand
- Ensure all work meets health and safety regulations and building standards
- Communicate professionally with tenants and explain work carried out
- Support efficient turnaround of empty properties (voids)
- Record work completed using digital systems (PDA or similar)
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Skilled in joinery with multi-trade experience
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Customer-focused with good communication skills
- Committed to health and safety standards
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work under pressure
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds in Joinery (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in carpentry/joinery and property maintenance
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to carry out basic tiling and plumbing tasks
