Pendarren House Outdoor Education Centre, owned by Haringey Council, has been providing residential adventurous and environmental outdoor education courses to children and young people of Haringey and beyond for 40 years. Pendarren is a large country house set on the side of Sugarloaf Mountain in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The 16 acre site lies in the Grwyne valley with stunning views across the Usk valley. The Centre is well equipped to deliver a range of on and off site adventurous activities and is close to the National Park experiencing nature at first hand. The personal development and environmental themed courses are delivered by qualified and experienced teachers of outdoor education in a friendly and homely setting.

We are excited to be recruiting a new experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic Outdoor Education Centre Manager, who is committed and passionate to see our Centre through its next phase of development.

Purpose of the job:

  • To ensure that Pendarren Outdoor Education Centre maintains and develops its status as one of the leading outdoor centres in the UK;
  • To manage all aspects of Pendarren including: education and training quality; planning, budgets, marketing and sales, staffing, premises and facilities, customer service, health and safety;
  • Effectively manage the services provided by Pendarren Outdoor Education Centre and ensure services are delivered to the required safety and quality standards

Main responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that all aspects of the leadership, management and operation of the Centre are carried out effectively;
  2. Manage the delivery of a high quality outdoor education curriculum for children and young people attending the Centre
  3. Develop a vision for the Centre and an associated strategy and delivery plan which sets out priorities for the future of the provision
  4. To be responsible for the management of the budget of the Centre
  5. Ensure that all resources and staff are effectively deployed to meet priorities and targets;
  6. Be committed to safeguarding principles and be willing to put the welfare of children and young people at the forefront of your work.
  7. To line manage,recruit and deploy staff effectively to meet business needs and ensure effective training and performance management is in place
  8. Build and maintain formal and informal partnerships with Haringey schools, and schools in other local authorities as well as other organisations
  9. Build and maintain relationships with customers, potential customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
  10. Ensure an effective marketing strategy to sustain the position of the Centre as a market leader

Working arrangement : Onsite only

Daily pay rate : £400
