Location: Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG
Start Date: 1st December 2025
Contract Length: Initial three-month assignment:
NCC Rates of Pay: £30 umbrella
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Attendance Requirements: Everyday for the first week whilst we get the candidate set up then a minimum of one day per week in the office (Tues or Weds). Attendance at site visits and face-to-face meetings as required.

Role Overview:
Nottingham City Council is seeking to appoint a proactive and experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to support its Planning Services team on an interim basis. This role is being appointed via agency for an initial three-month term, with the potential for an extension up to six months.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in helping the Council deliver its Planning Enforcement function to help ensure development across the city complies with planning regulations and the Development Plan. Your work will be instrumental in mitigating the risks associated with unauthorised development, protecting the character and integrity of Nottingham’s built and natural environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, including site inspections and evidence gathering.
• Prepare enforcement notices and reports for legal proceedings where necessary
• Liaise with developers, residents, legal teams, and other stakeholders
• Support the Council in reducing planning-related risks and ensuring compliance with national and local planning policy

What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience in planning enforcement within a local authority setting especially with breaches associated with Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO), ‘Air BNB’s, outbuildings, adverts,
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement procedures
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
• Experience of using Uniform and IDOX (but not essential)
