Job Title: Progress Coach (SEN)

Location: City College Peterborough
Hours: Full-time (37 hours, office-based)
Reporting to: SEN Curriculum Manager

Job Purpose

To support learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with EHCPs, by coordinating support, monitoring progress, and ensuring they achieve positive educational and personal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead EHCP annual reviews, including preparing reports and updating plans
  • Monitor learner progress, attendance, and engagement, taking action where needed
  • Build strong relationships with learners to support their confidence, wellbeing, and development
  • Act as a key communication link between learners, tutors, wellbeing staff, and external professionals
  • Manage and support Teaching Assistants to ensure effective in-class support
  • Liaise with schools, parents, and external agencies to support learner transitions and progression
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to data reporting and quality processes
  • Support recruitment, enrolment, and transition activities
  • Contribute to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion practices across the college

Person Specification (Summary)

Essential:

  • Experience supporting individuals with SEND/SEN
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs and learner support planning
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

Desirable:

  • Experience in a college or alternative provision setting
  • Knowledge of Ofsted requirements
  • Teaching, SEN, or IAG-related qualifications
