Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Electrician to join our Direct Repairs team, providing high-quality electrical repairs, maintenance, and testing services to residents, internal teams, and external partners.
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing electrical faults, completing repairs, carrying out inspections and testing, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with current electrical regulations.
This role involves working across residential properties, including occupied homes and void properties, with occasional out-of-hours work available to increase earnings.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical repairs and maintenance works within residential properties.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently and safely.
- Complete electrical installation works where required.
- Conduct electrical inspections, testing, and surveys.
- Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and remedial works.
- Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) when required.
- Inspect and prepare void properties before new occupants move in.
- Identify defects, risks, and compliance issues, providing detailed reports.
- Complete accurate job records, certificates, and documentation.
- Ensure all works comply with current electrical regulations, health and safety requirements, and company procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service when working in residents’ homes.
- Work independently while managing a daily schedule of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Participate in occasional out-of-hours and emergency repair duties.
Essential Requirements
Electrical Qualifications
Applicants must hold one of the following recognised electrical installation qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation Qualification + AM2
OR - City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2
OR - City & Guilds 2330 Levels 2 and 3
OR - City & Guilds 2365 Levels 2 and 3 + AM2
OR - City & Guilds 2357 + AM2
OR - Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346) + AM2E
Inspection & Testing Qualifications
Applicants must hold one of the following:
- City & Guilds 2391 Periodic Inspection and Testing
OR - City & Guilds 2395 Inspection and Testing
Additional Requirements
- City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance and/or installation.
- Experience working within domestic properties, housing maintenance, or repairs environments is desirable.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to complete accurate reports and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with residents.
Driving Requirements
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Maximum of 6 penalty points.
- No serious driving offences within the last 10 years (including CD, DD, DG, DR, IN, MR, TT codes).
- Minimum of 2 years’ driving experience.
- Driving licence checks will be completed as part of the pre-employment screening process.
