Quantity Surveyor – Job Description
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial and financial aspects of assigned construction projects, ensuring costs, contracts, procurement, and risks are effectively controlled. The role ensures projects are delivered in line with company governance, policies, and contractual requirements while providing accurate cost reporting and financial forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project costs, including forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, and cost/value reporting
- Monitor financial performance and produce regular profitability and budget variance reports
- Administer contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance with NEC/JCT and company procedures
- Assess and process payments, valuations, and final accounts
- Manage and evaluate changes, compensation events, and contractual claims
- Support procurement activities and subcontractor management to ensure value for money
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, delays, and contractual issues
- Provide advice on contractual matters and support dispute resolution where required
- Analyse tenders, cost plans, and budgets to support project delivery decisions
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with governance, legal, and company standards
- Work closely with project managers, designers, clients, subcontractors, and internal departments
General Responsibilities

- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and behaviours framework
- Support performance management and team development processes
- Undertake any additional duties relevant to the role as required
