Job Title: Registered Building Inspector Class 2 (Building Control Surveyor)

Job Purpose

To support the delivery of the Council’s Building Control service by ensuring that construction projects comply with relevant building regulations. The role focuses on plan assessments, regulatory compliance, and contributing to high-quality customer service while working toward professional registration standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess building plans and technical drawings to ensure compliance with current Building Regulations
  • Assist in the building control process from application through to completion
  • Provide clear and practical advice to applicants, developers, and stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively within one of the Building Control teams to deliver service objectives
  • Support the inspection and approval process to ensure safe and compliant development
  • Maintain accurate records of applications, decisions, and communications
  • Contribute to maintaining high levels of customer service and client satisfaction
  • Assist in achieving and maintaining the team’s performance targets and service standards

Person Specification

Essential Requirements:

  • Understanding of the building control process and Building Regulations
  • Ability to carry out plan assessments
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (RICS or CABE)
  • Willingness and ability to achieve Band B – General Registration with the Building Safety Regulator
