Job Title: Reviews Officer (Housing)

Job Purpose
To carry out statutory reviews of housing decisions under Housing Act 1996 Section 202, ensuring decisions are lawful, robust, and clearly reasoned. The role supports service improvement and helps minimise the use and cost of temporary accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent reviews of homelessness, suitability of accommodation, and housing register decisions.
- Analyse case files, legislation, case law, and new evidence to make legally sound decisions.
- Draft clear, detailed decision letters that withstand legal challenge.
- Manage complex and high-risk cases, including backlog reviews.
- Work with Legal Services on appeals under Housing Act 1996 Section 204 and judicial review cases.
- Liaise with applicants, solicitors, and advocates professionally and effectively.
- Identify trends and contribute to service improvements and prevention strategies.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation.
- Experience handling complex casework and making evidence-based decisions.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a high caseload and meet deadlines.
- Confidence working with legal processes and court-related matters.
