Job Title: Road Safety and Sustainability Officer (Road Safety & Behaviour Change)
Location: Hybrid
Directorate: Culture, Environment and Economy
Reports to: Principal Transport Planner
About the Role
We’re looking for an Active Travel Officer to lead on initiatives that encourage safer, more sustainable travel across the borough. This role focuses on behaviour change, road safety, and promoting walking and cycling, working closely with schools, communities, and partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver campaigns and initiatives promoting road safety and sustainable travel
- Coordinate and oversee cycle training programmes (including contractors and performance monitoring)
- Work with internal teams and external partners (schools, emergency services, community groups) to improve road safety
- Deliver engagement activities, training, and outreach to a wide range of audiences
- Monitor and evaluate projects, using data to measure impact and inform future programmes
- Support funding bids and help manage budgets, including external funding (e.g. TfL)
- Represent the council at relevant forums and stay up to date with best practice
About You
- Experience delivering campaigns, training, or community engagement initiatives
- Background in transport, road safety, active travel, or related areas
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Able to analyse data and evaluate project outcomes
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and working independently
