| E1 | Possession of Cemetery Operatives Training Scheme Certificate or the ability to work towards the certification or experience of working in a similar role or allied industry. | A/I | |
| E2 | Possession of Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme Certificate | A/I | |
| KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITY | |||
| E3 | Good written and verbal communications skills with good attention to detail | A/I/T | |
| E4 | Experience of digging by hand or mechanical equipment to various depths using suitable shoring methods. | A | |
| E5 | The ability to operate cremators and associated computerised control and recording equipment. | I | |
| E6 | The ability to follow maintenance schedules for cremators and associated crematorium machinery. | I | |
| E7 | The ability to locate and excavate graves to a given depth and size from written and verbal instructions. | I | |
