About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payments Officer to join our finance team. In this role, you will process invoices and payments to suppliers and benefit claimants using the Council’s financial management system. You will support daily cashiering activities, maintain accurate financial records, and provide administrative support for procurement and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities

Process invoices and generate payments to suppliers and other recipients

Maintain and update supplier records on the financial system

Handle petty cash, cheques, and other cashiering duties

Support staff with car loan and mileage claim administration

Raise and manage purchase orders in line with financial policies

Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and external organisations

Assist with financial reporting, compliance checks, and general administrative tasks
About You

Experience processing payments or working in a finance/administration role

Strong numerical and organisational skills with good attention to detail

Good communication skills and ability to work with different stakeholders

Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Comfortable using computer systems and Microsoft Office

Basic financial knowledge (e.g., A Levels or BTEC in Finance)
