RQ1714618 – Interim Panel Coordinator (Children)

Job Details

PAYE – £15.42 per hour

To lead, coordinate, and quality-assure the delivery of a twice weekly multi-agency panel within Children’s Services.  The postholder will ensure the panel runs to a high standard, with robust process control, clear timelines, accurate documentation, and proactive oversight of workflow. The postholder will also work with the Panel Chair and senior managers to identify how the panel work  can support improvements and practice across the wider system.

Oversight and management of work and activity of 2 Panel Administrators.

This role will strengthen consistency, ownership, reliability and drive standards across panel functioning and the wider system.

Key Focus of the Role

  • Lead and own the end-to-end coordination of a twice weekly decision-making panel including data interpretation to support prioritisation of children at panels and ensuring the right children are discussed at panel.
  • Reporting on progress and compliance with panel actions, to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Supporting appropriate escalation of issues relating to compliance and progress with panel processes and actions.
  • Tracking cohorts of children to improve the quality of care and support offered and to flag issues early
    Implement and manage a clear timetable for report requests, submissions, pack preparation and circulation
  • Identify process improvements and implement practical changes to enhance efficiency and reliability
    Ensure agendas and panel packs are accurate, complete, quality-checked, and circulated within agreed timeframes.
    • Quality assure minutes with clear actions, owners and deadlines
    • Quality check panel trackers, ensuring records are accurate, and up to date.
    • Drive improved task ownership and reduce repeat follow-up
    • Standardise templates, filing and workflow processes.
    • Act as a central point of contact for panel members, social work teams, and senior leaders, ensuring clarity of expectations and communication.

Required Experience
• Experience of leading and  coordinating statutory or governance panels within Children’s Services or a similar regulated environment
• Demonstrable experience improving panel processes and raising performance standards
• Confident working with social workers, Team Managers, Service Managers and senior leaders
• Able to implement structure, timetables and escalation routes
