About the Role
North Northamptonshire Council is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to support the team in reducing backlogs and waiting times for homelessness applications. You will be responsible for triaging cases, managing casework, and making informed decisions in line with current housing legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and triage incoming homelessness applications
- Assess cases and make decisions in line with the Housing Act 1996 (Part 7)
- Provide clear advice and guidance on housing options to applicants
- Maintain accurate case records and manage a high-volume caseload
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to resolve cases
Requirements
- Experience in housing options, homelessness, or related casework
- Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation (Housing Act 1996, Part 7)
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
