About the Role

City College Peterborough is seeking a committed and proactive Wellbeing Officer to join the 14–19 Study Programmes team. This role is central to supporting young people, particularly those facing social, emotional, or learning barriers, to achieve positive outcomes and succeed in education.

You will work closely with learners, staff, families, and external agencies to provide high-quality wellbeing and safeguarding support, ensuring learners are safe, engaged, and progressing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide wellbeing support to learners, including those experiencing crisis situations
  • Act as a first point of contact, coordinating meetings and monitoring attendance
  • Develop positive relationships with learners, families, and external partners
  • Liaise with external agencies such as Early Help, Youth Offending, and Social Care
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and maintaining accurate, up-to-date records
  • Support learners with additional needs, including personal care where required
  • Contribute to behaviour management and early intervention strategies
  • Support tutors and deliver internal training to enhance learner wellbeing
  • Monitor learner attendance, progress, and progression
  • Promote health, safety, and welfare across the college

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people, particularly those with additional needs or challenging behaviour
  • Be confident in handling sensitive and emotionally demanding situations
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be well organised, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team
  • Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and equality
  • Have a positive, proactive approach and the ability to motivate others

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting young people with social and emotional barriers
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and relevant external agencies
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support learners in crisis
  • Functional Skills Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Strong organisational and ICT skills

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in further education, apprenticeships, or study programmes
  • Knowledge of Ofsted frameworks
  • First aid training and experience with complex health needs
  • Qualifications in IAG, ICT, or personal care
