About the Role

Brentwood Borough Council is seeking a motivated IT Support Officer to join our dynamic Digital, Data and Technology team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, learning new skills, and delivering high-quality customer service with a technical focus.

You will play a key role in supporting the council’s IT services by providing first-line technical support, helping staff resolve IT issues quickly and efficiently, and ensuring systems run smoothly across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support via the IT Service Desk
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and Microsoft system issues
  • Assist with the setup, commissioning, and decommissioning of IT equipment
  • Support users with day-to-day technical problems and service requests
  • Deliver excellent customer service with a professional, helpful approach
  • Work with technical analysts and follow ITIL-based processes
  • Contribute to maintaining smooth and reliable IT operations

Essential Skills

  • Experience in IT support or a service desk environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies (e.g. Windows, Office 365)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of customer service principles

Desirable

  • Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and service management processes
