Job title: Taxi Licensing Service Support Officer
Grade: 3
Reports to: Taxi Administration Team Leader
Responsible for:
Directorate and Service area: Place and Economy / Regulatory Services
Purpose of the job
To administer all aspects of the licensing processes in relation to private hire vehicles, hackney carriages, drivers and private hire operators. To understand the legal and policy requirements relating to the role and apply them accordingly in the processing of all licences. To provide advice and support to those engaged in the taxi and private hire trade in North Northamptonshire. To assist officers and other agencies in relation to taxi licensing matters. Ensure that all information is properly recorded on databases as required and in compliance with Data Protection requirements.
Principal responsibilities
- To advise customers on the correct processes relating to the licensing of hackney carriages and private hire vehicles.
- To check and process applications for licences in accordance with current policies, procedures and legislation collating all information and liaising with relevant agencies and representatives.
- Maintain accurate records on relevant databases while being sensitive to the requirements of the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
- Production and issue of licences to prescribed timescales.
- Liaison with Licensing and Service Support Manager / Licensing Enforcement Team Leader where there is evidence / information to indicate that an applicant or existing licence holder may require formal action in relation to their application or licence.
- To provide excellent customer service when liaising with all internal and external parties.
- Positive engagement in the continuous improvement of the service.
