Client & Location : Walsall Council
PAYE Pay Rate : £16.35 per hour
Work pattern: up to 4 days, 9.25 hours per day, Monday – Friday (1 rest day within the week)
Main Purpose of the Role
To safely drive and operate HGV vehicles to support Walsall Council’s Waste and Street Cleansing services, ensuring waste collections are completed efficiently while following health and safety procedures.
Typical Day Overview
- Complete vehicle checks before starting work.
- Drive HGV refuse vehicles across the Walsall Borough.
- Work with a crew to complete household and commercial waste collections.
- Collect bulky items, recycling, and support street cleansing activities.
- Follow safe driving, reversing, and operating procedures.
- Report vehicle issues and complete required paperwork.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
- Valid Class 2 HGV Licence.
- Previous HGV driving experience.
- Safe operation of waste collection vehicles.
- Good knowledge of road safety and driving procedures.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Reliable and professional approach.
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times.
- Previous refuse experience desirable but not essential.
