Insight of the Role

Coventry City Council is looking for a Waste Data Officer to provide administrative, data and performance support to the Domestic Waste Team, ensuring service data compliance and effective reporting. The role will oversee and coordinate Waste Support Assistants, supporting the delivery of efficient waste services in line with Council policies, legislation and statutory requirements.

Main Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of this role is to maintain accurate waste service data, develop performance reporting systems, support compliance requirements and provide insight to improve waste service delivery. You will play a key role in analysing data, preparing reports, supporting contract and budget management, and ensuring effective responses to information requests and customer feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain management systems for reporting service performance, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements including Waste Data Flow and Environment Agency submissions.
  • Collate, analyses and produce performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide statistical information to support contract management, procurement processes and service improvement.
  • Coordinate responses to Freedom of Information Requests and complaints relating to Household Waste, Recycling Centres, Bin Delivery and Bulky Waste services.
  • Support accurate budget monitoring and financial system inputs for commercial and residential waste services.
  • Promote high standards of health and safety and ensure staff have the knowledge and skills required to work safely.
  • Represent Waste Services and Performance Data teams at internal and external meetings.
  • Support and coordinate the work of Waste Support Assistants.

About You

You will have knowledge of waste management, recycling services, relevant legislation and the challenges facing public sector services. You will understand Health and Safety requirements and GDPR responsibilities, with strong skills in data analysis, reporting and ICT systems.

You will be able to build effective partnerships, communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders, solve problems and manage changing priorities. Experience of working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and using IT systems to produce reports and analyse information is essential.

Start time – 9am

Finish time – 17:00pm

 

PAYE Pay Rate – £14.82
