This role is needed to provide specialist legal support to Children’s Services, handling childcare and family law matters. A typical day includes advising on care proceedings, managing legal queries, preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, attending court where required, and working with the legal team to ensure compliance with professional standards.
The purpose of this Interim Childcare Lawyer Solicitor role is to provide specialist legal advice, representation, and support on children’s law and family law matters, ensuring the local authority meets its legal obligations while protecting the welfare and best interests of children. The role supports the Children and Young People Services Directorate by managing legal cases, advising on complex legal issues, representing the authority in care proceedings, and ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards, including Law Society Professional Standards and Lexcel accreditation.

Qualifications:
| Experience in children’s law, including care proceedings and family law matters. | ||||||
| Qualified Solicitor with a valid practising certificate (essential). |
Overview of the day:
Weekly hours : 37
Start Time – 9am
End Time – 17:30pm
The role is hybrid, with one day per week in Northallerton and the 4 other days are spent working from home.
PAYE Pay Rate
£55 per hour
