Location: Jackson Road, Holbrook Cemetery  / Council House – Ground Floor

Pay: £13.05 per hour PAYE

Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:00pm, Friday 8:00am–3:30pm – 37 hours a week

Break: 30-minute unpaid lunch

Contract: Ongoing

Main Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking  to help keep Holbrook Cemetery clean, safe and well maintained. You’ll carry out general grounds maintenance and horticultural work, ensuring the site is presented to a high standard for visitors and families.

A Typical Day

  • Cutting grass using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
  • Strimming around headstones, trees, fences and other obstacles
  • Trimming hedges, shrubs and small trees
  • Weeding, planting and general gardening duties
  • Cleaning paths, roads and public areas
  • Carrying out general cemetery maintenance
  • Assisting with funeral and ceremonial arrangements when required
  • Using and maintaining grounds maintenance machinery safely
  • Reporting any hazards, defects or issues
  • Carrying out seasonal duties such as gritting and snow clearance

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or horticulture
  • Confident using mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters and blowers
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
  • Take pride in maintaining clean, safe and attractive public spaces

This is a hands-on outdoor role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, working as part of a team and maintaining high standards.
