The role:

• Senior Health & Safety Advisor
• Location: Coventry
• Hours: 37 hours per week
• Rate: £20.29 per hour
• Duration: 3 months+
• Working pattern: Hybrid – 1–2 days on-site, plus 1 office day per week for the team meeting
• Start: ASAP

You’ll be providing professional health & safety advice across a large and diverse Local Authority, working closely with managers and senior stakeholders to promote a strong health & safety culture.

The role will include:
• Advising managers on risk assessments, audits, inspections and accident investigations
• Reviewing and developing health & safety policies, procedures and management systems
• Delivering health & safety training and guidance to managers and employees
• Monitoring compliance with legislation and best practice
• Supporting contractor management and CDM compliance
• Producing reports, analysing incident trends and recommending preventative actions
• Working with senior managers, Trade Unions, external agencies and enforcement bodies where required

What we’re looking for:
✔️ NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety – essential
✔️ IOSH membership (CMIOSH, GradIOSH or working towards Chartered status)
✔️ Strong experience in health & safety auditing, inspections, investigations and risk assessments
✔️ Experience interpreting and applying H&S legislation within complex organisations
✔️ Experience developing policies and procedures
✔️ Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
✔️ Knowledge of CDM Regulations and contractor management

You’ll also need to be able to travel efficiently to sites across Coventry when required.
