Job Details

Work Pattern: Remote, with site visits and occasional office attendance, 37 hours per week

PAYE Pay Rate: £60–£70 per hour

Main Purpose

To carry out Building Control inspections, plan assessments and supervision of building works, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and relevant legislation.

Typical Day

  • Review Building Regulation applications and plans.
  • Carry out site inspections.
  • Check works comply with Building Regulations.
  • Investigate breaches and dangerous structures.
  • Provide advice to contractors, professionals and residents.
  • Complete reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage a caseload and meet deadlines.

Key Skills

  • Building Control surveying experience.
  • Site inspection and plan vetting.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Building Control Act 1984 and Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Good attention to detail and time management.
  • Ability to work independently.

Essential Qualifications / Requirements

  • BSR Registered Building Inspector – minimum Class 2A (2A/2C preferred).
  • Member of ABE, RICS or CIOB.
  • Relevant degree.
  • Proven Building Control Surveying experience.
  • Knowledge of dangerous structures and demolition legislation.
  • DEF MasterGov experience desirable.
