Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid – minimum 2 days per week in the office

PAYE Pay Rate:  £14.84 per hour

Job Purpose

To provide a high-quality customer service to members of the public by handling a wide range of Council enquiries through an inbound customer service call centre.

Typical Day

  • Answer inbound calls from residents and members of the public.
  • Handle a wide range of Council-related enquiries.
  • Provide accurate information and resolve queries efficiently.
  • Identify when enquiries need to be referred or escalated to the appropriate service.
  • Record customer interactions and update systems accurately.
  • Work to performance, quality and customer service standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support customers by providing clear and helpful information.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Previous customer service or customer contact experience is essential.
  • Call centre experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills.
  • Ability to deal confidently with a wide range of customers.
  • Strong problem-solving and listening skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good IT and administrative skills.
  • Ability to meet performance and quality targets.
  • Positive, professional and customer-focused approach.

Training

Successful candidates will complete a 2-week training programme, consisting of classroom training and shadowing before working independently.
