Job Details

Work Pattern: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm

PAYE Pay Rate: £14.84 per hour

Main Purpose

To provide a professional and customer-focused telephone service, handling a wide range of enquiries from members of the public across Council services.

Key Duties

  • Answer inbound calls and respond to Council-wide enquiries.
  • Provide accurate information and excellent customer service.
  • Handle a high volume of calls in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resolve customer queries efficiently and professionally.
  • Record and update customer information accurately.
  • Work to performance, quality and customer service standards.
  • Maintain a positive and helpful attitude when dealing with customers.
  • Escalate complex enquiries where appropriate.
  • Work effectively as part of a busy customer service team.

Essential Experience

  • Previous customer contact/customer service experience.
  • Previous call center or inbound telephone experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a high volume of enquiries.
  • Good IT and administration skills.
  • Ability to meet performance and quality targets.
  • Positive, professional and customer-focused approach.

Working Arrangements

  • Candidates will complete a 2-week training programmed, including classroom training and shadowing.
  • Flexible working arrangement with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
  • Additional office attendance may be required for training.
