Job Title: SEND Coordinator (EHCP Caseworker)
Location:
West Suffolk House / Riverside / Hybrid Working (Virtual with occasional office attendance)
Rate:
£280 per day
Contract:
3 months (rolling contract)
Team Structure:
4 Coordinators across 2 Area Teams
Job Purpose
To manage and coordinate a caseload of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring statutory processes are completed accurately and within required timescales. The SEND Coordinator will oversee casework from annual review through to finalisation of amendments, supporting children and young people with SEND to access appropriate education provision.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
- Hold and manage a designated caseload of EHCP cases
- Ensure all statutory deadlines and processes are met
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records
EHCP Amendments & Documentation
- Complete draft amendments following annual reviews and professional meetings
- Finalise EHCP documents in line with statutory requirements and consultation outcomes
- Ensure plans clearly reflect assessed needs, provision, and outcomes
Annual Review Coordination
- Oversee and monitor the annual review process across caseload
- Ensure schools, settings, and professionals submit required documentation
- Quality-check review paperwork and ensure appropriate actions are recorded and followed through
Phase Transfers
- Coordinate EHCP phase transfer processes (e.g. primary to secondary, secondary to post-16)
- Work with schools, settings, and families to ensure smooth transitions
- Ensure timely updates and amendments to EHCPs during transition periods
Family and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with children, young people, and their families
- Liaise with education settings, providers, and external professionals
- Provide clear updates and guidance throughout the EHCP process
Panel and Funding Requests
- Prepare and submit requests for specialist placements and funding to relevant panels
- Provide evidence-based recommendations aligned with EHCP requirements
- Support decision-making processes for provision and resourcing
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working model (predominantly remote)
- Expected to attend office approximately 1 day per week where possible
- Attendance at team meetings in person when required
- Equipment provided for remote working (collected in person at start of assignment)
Person Specification (Essential Skills)
- Experience working within SEND/EHCP processes in a local authority or similar setting
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation and statutory duties
- Experience managing a caseload independently
- Excellent written communication skills (report writing and documentation)
- Ability to work with families, schools, and professionals in a coordinated way
- Strong organisational and time management skills
