Senior Planning Enforcement Officer

Job Details

You must have recent experience in managing a busy and varied caseload of different types of planning enforcement breaches and in dealing with multiple lines of enquiries under pressure. Your knowledge of the planning system and the various types of legislation, regulations and policy guidance will be extensive. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload (100+) of alleged breaches with the role including investigations, site visits, assessing matters against law and regulations and making recommendations. The role will also regularly require serving enforcement notices and evidence of notices personally served are welcomed with your application.

The role is also responsible for writing appeal statements and, where necessary, representing the Council at hearing, inquiry or in court. Assistance, advice and support will be regularly provided by the team leader, deputy team leader, members of the team and other planning managers and ongoing training, upskilling and gaining experience through new challenges is encouraged. You should have experience in dealing with the public, Councilors and in responding to MP enquiries and complaints. You will also need to be highly organized, a quick learner and able to handle competing priorities. You will be excellent at keeping clear and accurate records, to a standard that can be used as evidence at a later time. Occasional evening or weekend work might be required but will be remunerated. The role will be based from home however it will be necessary to access the office and pool cars twice a week to carry out 12 – 20 site visits.
