Senior Structural AutoCAD / Revit Technician
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural AutoCAD / Revit Technician to join an established multi-disciplinary design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and coordinating high-quality 3D Revit models and 2D AutoCAD drawings across a range of structural engineering projects.
You will support Structural Engineers throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and detailed 3D BIM models using Revit and 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD.
- Develop structural drawings and models from Structural Engineers’ sketches and design information.
- Work on both new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Produce structural detailing relating to structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
- Coordinate and supervise structural BIM models and technical drawings.
- Produce drawings throughout the RIBA stages, from briefing and concept design through to detailed technical design.
- Prepare preliminary drawings to support outline cost estimates.
- Work closely with Structural Engineers, Architects, Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Civil Engineers and Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
- Coordinate designs with internal and external project teams.
- Provide construction-stage support, including responding to RFIs and Technical Queries (TQs).
- Review reinforced concrete details, schedules and steel fabricator drawings.
- Attend site visits where required to assist with resolving structural and technical issues.
- Ensure all drawings and models meet required quality and technical standards.
- Support effective project delivery while maintaining programme and budget requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years’ structural detailing experience within an engineering design consultancy.
- Strong experience using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience producing structural BIM models and detailed technical drawings.
- Experience working on new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Knowledge of structural materials including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
- Experience working throughout the RIBA Plan of Work stages.
- Experience working from Structural Engineers’ sketches and design information.
- Ability to coordinate work within a multi-disciplinary design team.
- Experience supporting projects during the construction stage.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Full UK driving licence.
Working Hours
- Up to 35 hours per week.
