Job Title: Surveyor (Disrepair)

Role Summary:
The Surveyor (Disrepair) ensures effective surveying services for Housing Services, managing and progressing disrepair claims to completion. The role involves inspecting properties, diagnosing complex repair issues, preparing detailed specifications, and monitoring contractors to ensure high-quality, cost-effective repairs while protecting the council from financial loss.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect tenanted, communal, and void properties to identify repair needs.
  • Review expert reports and disrepair claims, producing detailed specifications for contractors.
  • Manage repairs under Section 11 and Environmental Protection Act claims.
  • Monitor contractors and undertake post-inspections to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Liaise with residents professionally, applying safeguarding principles where needed.
  • Work with the Repairs Cost Team to ensure value for money in disrepair orders.
  • Recommend cost-effective solutions for complex repair problems.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of building pathology and construction techniques.
  • Experience in social housing or property management.
  • Ability to write clear, technical specifications.
  • Understanding of housing law related to disrepair claims.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
