About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Advisor to support young people leaving local authority care as they transition into independent living. You will act as a corporate parent, ensuring care leavers receive the guidance, support, and opportunities they need to achieve positive outcomes in adulthood.

Key Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with care leavers, ensuring their voices are heard and central to decision-making
- Contribute to assessments and develop, review, and implement pathway plans
- Support young people in developing independent living skills, including emotional, social, and financial capability
- Coordinate access to services and ensure effective use of available support
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using the Council’s electronic systems
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals to support young people’s progress
- Provide crisis support when required, including occasional out-of-hours and weekend work
- Act as an advocate for young people, safeguarding their wellbeing and promoting their rights
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusive practice in all aspects of service delivery
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in working with young people or vulnerable individuals
- Able to build positive and effective working relationships
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Organised, adaptable, and able to manage a varied workload
- Committed to safeguarding, equality, and high-quality care
- Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
- Willing to work flexibly, including evenings/weekends when required
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 in Advice & Guidance or Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Understanding of education, training, employment, and support services for young people
- Knowledge of assessment and care planning processes
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel across the borough
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required
- Commitment to professional development and ongoing training
