Job Title: Electrician (Installation, Testing & Maintenance)

Job Purpose

To carry out electrical installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance works across domestic, public, and light commercial properties, ensuring all work is completed safely, compliantly, and to current UK wiring regulations (18th Edition).

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical installation work including first fix and second fix wiring
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in a variety of property types
  • Complete testing, inspection, and certification of electrical installations (2391 standard or equivalent)
  • Diagnose faults and carry out remedial electrical works
  • Work from technical drawings and undertake measuring, marking out, and planning of installations
  • Ensure all work complies with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Complete risk assessments prior to commencing work
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety on all sites
  • Use a range of hand tools, portable power tools, and specialist equipment safely
  • Work in occupied and unoccupied environments with minimal disruption to occupants
  • Handle and work safely with materials classified under COSHH regulations
  • Work collaboratively with other trades where required (multi-skilled/“bolt-on” duties)

  • Domestic housing (occupied and empty homes, including social housing and new builds)
  • Public sector buildings (schools, colleges, libraries, council buildings)
  • Light commercial premises (offices, shops, small business units, mixed-use properties)
  • Refurbishment, maintenance, and installation projects within live environments

Essential Requirements

  • Craft Certificate in Electrical Installation
  • Time-served recognised Electrical Apprenticeship
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
  • Level 3 2391 Testing, Inspection and Certification (or equivalent)
  • Competence in manual handling, ladder safety, abrasive wheels, and general health & safety
  • Knowledge of COSHH and safe working practices
  • Ability to carry out risk assessments
  • Experience with electrical installation in domestic and public environments
  • Competence in use of electrical tools and equipment
  • Experience with first and second fix installations

Desirable Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (Advanced Craft)
  • Solar PV installation/maintenance qualification
  • EV charger installation qualification (2921-31 or equivalent)
  • PAT Testing qualification (2377 Level 3)
  • Experience in multi-skilled/builder “bolt-on” trade work
