Job Details

Work Pattern: 7 hours per day, (Mon – Fri)

PAYE Pay Rate: £21.05 per hour

Job Purpose

To carry out fire door installation, repairs, upgrades and fire stopping works across properties, ensuring all work meets required fire safety standards and provides a high-quality service to residents and customers.

Typical Day

  • Travel to properties using the company van and review the day’s work schedule.
  • Inspect fire doors and identify repairs, upgrades or replacement requirements.
  • Fit new fire doors, repair frames and upgrade existing doors.
  • Carry out fire stopping works and install fire-rated plasterboard or electrical enclosures.
  • Check fire door components and ensure work meets relevant British Standards.
  • Liaise with residents, customers and colleagues while working on properties.
  • Complete job sheets, update records and report any defects or additional works required.
  • Carry out final quality checks to ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

Key Duties

  • Fit new fire doors and repair or replace damaged door frames.
  • Upgrade and maintain existing fire doors.
  • Inspect fire doors and understand the different fire door components.
  • Carry out fire stopping works and install fire-related plasterboard.
  • Fit electrical enclosures where required.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant British Standards and fire safety requirements.
  • Maintain excellent quality and workmanship standards.
  • Keep accurate records of completed works and carry out minor administration.
  • Identify defects and recommend appropriate remedial works.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, customers, colleagues and contractors.
  • Work independently and use an innovative, practical approach to solving problems.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter, preferably with fire door experience.
  • Good knowledge of fire doors and their components.
  • Experience in fire stopping works.
  • Good understanding of relevant British Standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good record-keeping and basic administrative skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving license – company van provided.
